What to do in Hong Kong | 10,000 Buddhas Monastery

What to do in Hong Kong - The 10,000 Buddhas Monastery
10,000 Buddhas Monastery is simply amazing. It was almost entirely empty when we visited. Skip the crowds at Big Buddha and go for a unique, intimate experience!

Not That! | Big Buddha.

10,000 Buddhas is cheaper, more unique to Hong Kong, and an incredible cultural experience. With almost no crowds, 10,000 Buddhas is the perfect place for exploring. Unique statues of Buddha line the stairs to a monastery that houses a monk mummified in gold leaf (actually the founder of the monastery). Make sure to explore the whole grounds, there are more stairs to climb and even a giant Buddha riding on a dragon in front of a waterfall!

Quick tip: Quite a few stairs and tricky to get to, wear slip resistant shoes and find your directions here: 10,000 Buddhas Monastery; Must See in Hong Kong.

What to do in Hong Kong | Star Ferry

What to do in Hong Kong - Star Ferry Night tour
Don’t miss the Star Ferry night tour. It’s at the top of our list of what to do in Hong Kong. Well worth the money!

Not That! | Junk Boat Ride

The Star Ferry is a comfortable ride with indoor seating should you want to relax and take in the view from a window. You may even order some wine and snacks. Junk boats are very cool to look at but they can be choppy. The views of the skyline are what you’re paying for so make sure you have stability on the boat to get that great shot of the Hong Kong skyline at night!

Not That! | Temple Street Market

Depending on what you’re looking for Ladies Market wins in shopping and Temple Street wins in food. Ladies Market had much more variety in merchandise while Temple Street was lined with restaurants. Be warned: Temple Street has some sketchy areas and the food is shockingly expensive.

What to do in Hong Kong | Bus to Victoria Peak and views on Victoria Peak Galleria

What to do in Hong Kong - Victoria Peak
Take the bus to the top of Victoria Peak to skip the lines of the train. It’s really cheap and convenient.

Not That! | Trolley to Victoria Peak and views on The Peak

You have to consider that many peaks in Hong Kong will give you a beautiful view of the city because Hong Kong is that beautiful. Both of these options will give you a great experience but if you want to save time and money by skipping the lines and fees of the trolley and The Peak, you can take a bus to the Victoria Peak Galleria which has free views on top of the shopping mall. Make sure, whichever you choose, you go on a clear day as the fog can get so intense all of the harbor is hidden.

Good advice. I agree with most of the advice except about the HK History Museum, which I think is quite interesting.
